Killi Faiso: Day 13-22

These three panoramas chart the third week of development of the Killi Faiso site.

This panorama looks at the Killi Faiso border camp on day 13. This panorama was taken on 4 November 2001. the site has grown significantly from its first start. UNHCR has a small office in the camp for dealing with any problems that arise.

If you have Google Earth on your system you can click here to see the approximate location from where the panoramas was taken.

This panorama shows the Killi Faiso site on Day 17. This was taken on 8 November 2001. A second warehouse tent has been added for non-food items. You can see a delivery of bedding to the non-food-item warehouse in the camp.

Killi Faiso on Day 22. This was taken on 13 November 2001. We had already begun to move people out of this site to a better camp at Roghani two days earlier, but the flow of refugees continued. This panorama from the center of the camp shows the locally made water tanks provided by Oxfam. These were filled several times a day by tractor-drawn water trailers.

The site is now working well, but sanitation has always lagged behind other camp elements - leading to problems with defecation inside tents (by women) and open defecation in depressions (by men).

Families have begun to adapt their tents, by fitting on little screened alcoves for privacy to allow women to leave the heat of the tent while observing purdah.
