IDP Camp in Pakisatan
After the earthquake in Pakistan on October 8, 2005, large numbers of people from highland areas and from destroyed lowland towns took refuge in IDP camps. Most of those from the highland areas returned to their original villages in 2006, but a few remained. Normally those who remained had particular reasons from remaining in camps (perhaps they had lost their land in a landslide, or did not own any land).
This small panorama shows the camp at Maera with the compounds of the last few dozen families. The families have built "walls" for their compound using plastic sheeting.
If you have Google Earth on your system, you can click here to view the location where the panorama was taken. At the time of writing, there is only a low-resolution (30m) image of this area on Google Earth.
